Summer Term 1 - Sow, Grow and Farm

Sow, Grow and Farm

Welcome to the 5th of our exciting projects this year. This term our project is Sow, Grow and Farm. In this project your child will learn about allotments in the United Kingdom and how having allotments were encouraged in Britain during the Second World War. The children will learn about food webs and animal life cycles in their science lessons. The children will plan their own allotments and what fruit and vegetables they may be able to grow in there. They will investigate the different ways plants reproduce and will have fun dissecting flowers and identifying all the parts of the flower. The children will look at the different types of farming in the UK and the challenges that farmers face. The children will learn about the benefits of eating seasonally and will have the opportunity to cook their own seasonal soup. Finally the children will learn about world farming, the different climate zones and where different foods are grown.
