Iceberg Investigation

Investigation

Year 6 were set an investigation task: could they predict which iceberg would melt the quickest in water, with each iceberg having one variable in its environment. They had to work scientifically to set up their task and use data collection to record the changing state of the icebergs size. There were a few surprises at the end when an unchosen iceberg melted first, this then provoked discussion as to what factors had made this happen.

Ask your child to explain what iceberg calving means.
