Friday 3rd December

Over the next few weeks in phonics, the children will be reviewing and embedding all of their phonics knowledge.

Continue to encourage children to recognise their sounds (see attachments to remind you of what sounds have been learnt so far and how to pronounce them and write them correctly.

Also continue to encourage your child to blend sounds to read words (follow this link for game ideas: https://www.spilsbyprimary.org.uk/phonics-activity-ideas-to-support-your-children-at/ ) .

Continue to practise the high frequency words that are sent home weekly.

Practise reading sentences. Remember to only include tricky words and graphemes that the children have learnt so far. We usually look at the sentence first and identify any tricky words and for each word before we blend, we identify any digraphs. Here are some examples:

  • Can I fix a van?
  • It is a mess in that bag.
  • He has pink shells.
