Autumn Term 2-Misty Mountain, Winding River

Misty Mountain, Winding River

This term our geography-based project is called Misty Mountain, Winding River. This project teaches children about the characteristics and features of rivers and mountain ranges around the world, including a detailed exploration of the ecosystems and processes that shape them and the land around them. Our learning will be based around our big question: What happens to a raindrop?

Please find below the knowledge organiser, home learning and curriculum overview for the project. Please encourage your child to regularly look at their knowledge organiser to support their learning in school.

We have had some excellent project home learning this term covering a range of different subjects.

This week in Geography we have learnt about types of mountains. We then planned a poster and had a go at making the poster.

Mountain Modelling

Year 3 used Air dry clay to demonstrate their knowledge from the term. They made a mountain with a v shaped valley and a ridge, then used another colour to make the parts of a river. Once they'd had their picture taken, they labelled the parts of the river with meander, source, floodplain, delta and mouth. Excellent work Year 3!
