Year 1T

Welcome to 1T

On this page you will be able to access lots of useful information and see pictures of all of the amazing learning happening in Year 1.

Our final project this year is called Paws, Claws and Whiskers. This half term, we’re going to discover that animals come in all shapes and sizes! We’ll study animal artwork, draw detailed animal pictures to capture their special features and make collages, sculptures and prints. We’ll spot similarities and differences between animals, look at different habitats around the world and investigate camouflage. Designing a zoo is even on the agenda! The full subject coverage for this project can be found via the link below. Your child has also been given a knowledge organiser. Please use this at home to help your child learn and review the specific knowledge required for this project.

1T will have PE on a Tuesday and Friday so will need to come into school in their PE kit on these days. The children's kit will act as their 'uniform'; therefore, the children are expected to wear the school PE kit: including black trainers or plimsoles. Please be aware that if your child does not come in their PE kit, then they may miss out on their session or be asked to return home to change.

Children's reading books will be changed by staff within school time, so it is imperative that books are brought in daily. We will be keeping a record of which books the children have read to try and give them a different one to take home. However, your child may enjoy reading their book more than once; this practice helps develop fluency and gives you the opportunity to ask your child questions about what they have read.

Year 1T are extremely lucky to have support from Mrs Cobb and Mrs Loake. We will also be working closely throughout the year with Mrs Coulthard and Mrs Leggatte from 1C.
