Year 5

Welcome to Year 5

Welcome to our class page. We (Miss Campling and Miss Cobb) cannot wait to have you all back in school and to start our new year. This is our class page and I will keep it updated with all the information you need throughout the year. Towards the bottom of this page you will find a section for each project that will include homework, parental information and knowledge organisers. There will also be lots of photos of our work and what we do in class.

Our first project is 'Pharaohs'. This project has a history focus on ancient Egypt. We will be learning about pharaohs, gods, mummification and beliefs of the afterlife. Please have a look at the knowledge organiser to see the key knowledge for this term. Those children that came in for the transition sessions will have received a project newsletter, project overview, a knowledge organiser and project homework sheets to help them be ready for learning upon our return. These documents can be found in the project subpage link at the bottom of the page.

All children will have 3 pieces of project homework to complete throughout the term. These will be focused on project, maths and English.

Children will also have spellings given out once a week to be learned by the following week.

All children have access to Times Table Rock Stars and will have a reading book from school. I do ask that children read at home each night and practise their times tables three times per week.

The children will have P.E. twice a week, on a Tuesday and Wednesday. Children will need to come to school in their PE kit on these days and will remain in PE kit all day. We will be outside as much as possible, so please can you ensure children have appropriate clothing (such as tracksuit bottoms) to keep warm. Children will not be allowed to borrow PE kit at this time.

I really hope nobody is too worried about returning to school. Please be assured that we are all here to support the children and we will have class discussions to help children readjust to the school routine and the children's mental well-being is of the utmost importance.

We look forwards to seeing you on Thursday 3rd September.

If you have any questions or worries please do not hesitate to contact me via the school office or the email link below.

See you soon
