Welcome to our class page!
On this page you will be able to find links to all of the recent activities that have been completed by Year 2 and other useful information.
For the first term up to Christmas, we will be covering two science based projects. These will be 'The Enchanted Woodland' and 'The Scented Garden'. These projects will include completing lessons outside, so please ensure your child has sensible shoes and a coat when they come to school.
The children received a newsletter, a project overview and a home learning document during the transition sessions. If you could not attend the transition sessions, then please see the sub page below to view the documents.
Year 2 will have P.E on a Wednesday, so will need to come into school in their P.E kit on this day. Please ensure that they are dressed appropriately - a tracksuit or leggings are fine for the colder weather.
Children's reading books will be changed on a Tuesday and a Friday by staff within school time. We will be keeping a record of which books the children have read to try and give them a different one to take home. However, it is also good practice for children to come back to books that they have already read and to check to see what they can remember from the text as well as encouraging them to read with more fluency. We will be continuing with the reading challenge in Year 2, so please aim to read with your child during the week to contribute towards this challenge.
Children will be given a homework book, which contains their spellings for the term. There will be six sheets stuck into the children's books - one for each week of the term. Each sheet states when the set of spellings needs to be learned for. Children can keep this book at home for first six weeks to limit the amount of times it is brought back and forth to school from home. Please can children return these homework books to school on Thursday 15th October 2020. This will allow adults to prep the books for the following term's spelling lists.
Year 2 are extremely lucky this year to have support from Mrs Baines, Mrs Salmon and Mrs Davies throughout the week and they look forward to working with all the pupils this year!
