Welcome to Year 1
Welcome to the spring term! I hope you have all had a well deserved break over the Christmas period and are feeling excited about starting a new project.
During spring term 1 (until February half term) we will be completing a knowledge rich, history based, project called: Childhood. This project teaches children about everyday life and families today, including comparisons with childhood in the 1950s. The full subject coverage for this project can be found via the link below. You child has also been given a knowledge organiser. Please use this at home to help your child learn and review the specific knowledge required for this project.
Year 1 will have P.E on a Tuesday and Friday, so will need to come into school in their P.E kit on these days. Please ensure that they are dressed appropriately - a tracksuit/leggings and trainers are fine for the colder weather.
Due to the current situation we will only be changing books on a Tuesday and Friday to allow for the advised decontamination time. However, your child may enjoy reading their book more than once; this rereading helps develop fluency and gives you the opportunity to ask your child questions about what they have read. We will be keeping a record of which books the children have read to try and give them a different one to take home. Reading at home with your child will have a profound impact on their progress.
If you would like any further information then please do not hesitate to contact me either using the email link below or phoning the school office.
