22/10/2020 - Mr Fox's Woodland Party
What a lovely end to a very busy term! After working hard this week to create decorations, write stories, make headband/masks and reply to the invitation from Mr Fox, the children went down to the woodland area and roasted marshmallows and made delicious s'mores around the firepit! They were delicious!
20/10/2020 - Knowledge Organiser Check
Year 2 put their knowledge to the test this afternoon and worked in groups to solve parts of the interactive knowledge organiser! They had to use what they had learnt and ensure the labels and pictures were in the correct places.
Innovate Week w.b. Monday 19th October 2020
This week, Year 2 received a message from Mr Fox inviting them to a woodland party at the end of the week! But he asked them to complete some jobs first! Before Thursday afternoon, the children have to:
- Write a story.
- Make an animal themed mask.
- Create some decorations for the woodland party.
- Write and record a response to the invitation.

This afternoon, Year 2 used natural resources in the woodland area to create some homes for woodland creatures. They also got to enjoy some of the tasty tea party treats that they made earlier in the week.

This afternoon, Year 2 used different ingredients and equipment to create some tiny tea party food ready for when they venture to the school woodland area at the end of the week!
08/10/2020 - Art and Design
Year 2 have been using florist wire and tissue paper to create some rainforest leaves. They researched some example leaves from rainforests around the world before designing their own and then making it.

Something crazy has happened in the classroom this evening and was caught on the cameras! What could it be? Where has it come from? Where could it be leading to? Hopefully the children can help the adults in Year 2 solve the problem!

Year 2 spent some time this afternoon looking at conflict and compromise to help them when they are faced with an argument.

This morning, Year 2 had to follow a set of instructions about how to plant a seed. After planting a seed in groups, they then had to think about what features make a good set of instructions.

This afternoon, Year 2 used their sorting and classifying knowledge to put woodland creatures into different groups based on their habitats.

This week, Year 2 have been finding about different woodland creatures and today they presented their findings in a poster. They had to include information about where their animal are, where it lived and whether it was nocturnal or not.

Year 2 spent some time this afternoon creating habitats for woodland creatures from natural resources in our nature-land area on the field.

Year 2 used their research skills on the IPads to find some factual information about their chosen woodland creature.

This afternoon, Year 2 looked at images of plants and flowers before using their own sketching and colouring skills to create a masterpiece of their own.

Year 2 have been working hard this work, looking for features of a non-chronological report, retrieving information from a text about cacti or daffodils and then creating their own report, which they published today.

This afternoon, Year 2 spent some time collecting a flower from the school field and then correctly labelling the different parts of the plant.

This afternoon, Year 2 had a class discussion about what it meant to be a 'Good Friend'. After generating a list of ideas, they created their own posters to illustrate them.

Year 2 spent the afternoon identifying different types of tree; deciduous and evergreen, then looking at the different patterns they could make from bark rubbing as well as spending some time sketching the leaves from different trees.

Year 2 worked really hard this morning, as they ordered pictures into the order they completed them in the day before during their launch event. They then used time adverbials to explain the activities they completed.

This morning, Year 2 explored the school grounds in search of different plants, flowers and minibeasts! This was to launch their Enchanted Woodland and Scented Garden projects! They will be writing about this experience in English this week.

Year 2 spent some time in groups this afternoon exploring the trees around the school grounds as well as thinking about what the weather was like. This will be part of their exploration into seasonal changes throughout the year.
