This afternoon, Year 5 had a very exciting afternoon looking at the investigation of, 'Why do planets have craters?' They dropped objects with different masses from the same height and then they measured the width and depth of the crater created.

This afternoon, Year 5 looked at how important insulation is when travelling through space. The wrapped some measuring jugs in different materials and then filled them with boiling water to see which one had the slowest rate of cooling and was therefore insulated the best.

This afternoon, Year 5 looked at how forces are constantly acting on objects and how there is a difference between the mass of something and the weight of something. They then used Newton Meters to see how many Newtons different objects had acting on them. They then looked at whether different objects would hit the floor at different times when dropped from the same height.

In preparation for writing our own moon myths over the next few weeks, we have been looking at moon myths from other cultures. Today we had great fun acting out the stories. What a dramatic bunch we are!

This afternoon, Year 5 looked at the different moon phases and they had to create a piece of art using chalk which showed how the moon changed through each phase.

This afternoon, Year 5 looked at 'The Father of Science' and created informative posters all about Galileo!
