Spring Term 2: Potions

This half term we are delving into our POTIONS project. Below you will find the curriculum overview for the half term, a knowledge organiser for your child to get familiar with and the homework letter which you have previously received.

Guided Reading

In guided reading w/c 15th March, we looked at a set of instructions for 'How to make a naked egg'. Over the week we built up our retrieval, inference and sequencing skills while also looking at vocabulary choices. We also set up the experiment to try ourselves and were amazed by the results!

To start out capacity unit in Maths we made our own potions! We used different measuring cylinders to carefully measure out the amount we needed and then checked it with an adult. Once we had included some of each ingredient, we had to add together each of our amounts to find our total potion capacity.

Year 3 looked at 'Love Potion' by Evelyn de Morgan and other love inspired art. The children talked about the styles of art and how they differed and what they thought was being represented. They then chose a piece they would like to finish and tried to complete part of the picture to match the rest. Excellent resilience all round!
