10/12/2019 - WOW Event

 

This afternoon, Year 3 celebrated the work they had done for their Scrumdiddlyumptious project and their smoothie business with their families. They created adverts, recipe cards, packaging and samples of the smoothie.

09/12/2019 - PSHE
 

This afternoon, Year 3 looked at risks, hazards and dangers during PSHE. They sorted and classified different scenarios into the three sections before talking about how they should approach the potential hazard safely.

06/12/2019 - Well Being Workshop

 

Today, Year 3 had a workshop delivered to them, which looked at emotions and how different emotions can make them feel and act. Next, they discussed how they could respond to different emotions and keep control over them.

05/12/2019 - English

 

This morning, Year 3 finished creating their poster adverts, which they have made as part of their Smoothie business enterprise! They had to include lots of eye catching features to make sure the audience spotted their advert and their product!

04/12/2019 - Design and Technology

 

After creating their smoothie yesterday, Year 3 spent the afternoon creating the packaging for their smoothie. They spent some time looking at existing products and seeing what important information was included on the items before replicating these on their own work.

This afternoon, Year 3 had lots of fun making their own smoothies! They worked in groups to choose three different fruits and a juice to blend together to create a smoothie, which they then tried!

02/12/2019 - PSHE

 

This afternoon, Year 3 looked at the difficult topic of grief and loss. They listened to examples of real life stories, where children and adults had experienced grief and loss. From this, they considered the different emotions that these situations could cause and then discussed what could be done to help deal with these emotions.

27/11/2019 - Computing with Mr Carlton

 

Today, Year 3 were very lucky to have Mr Carlton come into their class and show them how to use the IPads and the WeDo Lego app to create and program a robot!

25/11/2019 - PSHE

 

This afternoon in PSHE, Year 3 looked at 'transitions'. They had to think about when they may have been through a transition and how this made them feel. As a class, they then also considered how they could prepare themselves for any future transitions.

20/11/2019 - Geography

 

This afternoon, Year 3 looked at Fairtrade and they created a list of foods which they had researched to be Fairtrade. They then worked collaboratively as a class to create a definition for what Fairtrade is.

19/11/2019 - History

 

This afternoon, Year 3 looked at the life of James Lind. They found about when and where he was born as well as some of the key events in his lifetime, which they plotted onto a timeline.  

18/11/2019 - PSHE

 

This afternoon, Year 3 looked at feelings and emotions and they considered how it made them feel on the inside as well as how they could make them act on the outside.

15/11/2019 - English

 

This week in English, Year 3 have been looking at Nonsense poetry. They looked at some existing examples of nonsense poems before creating their own totally nonsense words and putting them into verses.

13/11/2019 - Art and Design

 

A fantastic afternoon in Year 3! They had to create their own 3D sculptures of fruit and vegetables; either real life food or an imaginary one. They started by designing their creations in their book and then moved on to using play dough to create their final masterpiece.  

12/11/2019 - Geography

 

This afternoon, Year 3 looked at 'odd' foods from around the world. They located the countries on a world map and then used a key in their books to show which food came from that country.

11/11/2019 - PSHE

 

This afternoon, Year 3 looked at 'Achievements' in PSHE and they considered what they had achieved in their life and how that made them feel. They also thought about how they felt when they accomplished something, which had been difficult at first.  

06/11/2019 - Design and Technology

 

This afternoon, some of Year 3 had the opportunity to make some healthy flapjacks! They used different pieces of equipment to help combine all of the ingredients to create the end result!

05/11/2019 - Geography

 

This afternoon, Year 3 looked at the journey food takes to get to our local supermarkets. They looked at where chocolate and bananas are grown, harvested and transported from. Then, they used an atlas to locate the origin country and then plotted a route onto the world map to show the journey to the UK.

04/11/2019 - PSHE

 

This afternoon, Year 3 looked at how to become 'Media Wise' as they looked at how the media has a lot of power in influencing how we think, feel and behave. They then also considered how this could be harmful or helpful in our lives.

04/11/2019 - English

 

Year 3 had a very messy morning during English! They had to follow a set of instructions for a mud pie recipe! They had to collect all of the equipment they needed as well as following the method closely to create the finished pie.

30/10/2019 - Memorable Experience

 

This morning, Year 3 were very lucky to visit the local supermarket, Sainsbury's. During their time, they had the chance to look at the different foods on the shelves, explore the storage areas as well as taste different foods.  

29/10/2019 - Science

 

This afternoon, Year 3 were very busy sorting and classifying foods. They could pick any criteria they wished but had to use scientific vocabulary when explaining to their group why they had chosen to sort the foods in the way they did.
