Reception C

Welcome to Reception C!

I hope you have had a fun-filled summer and are now ready for some more fun in Reception C class!
We have lots of really exciting topics this year and start off with WONDERFUL ME asking the question “Why do you love me so much?”

This will entail learning about how special and unique we are whilst still being part of a school family. We will also learn about who and what is special to us. There will also be a mini-topic on Winter Wonderland. These topics will take us right through until Christmas.

Reception C Class Staff

Along with myself we are lucky to have Miss Smith and Mrs Loake to support Reception C class.

In Reception C, we will be having PE on Mondays and Thursdays. To try to limit the number of belongings being brought into school, we are asking that your child comes to school in their PE kit on these days, including wearing their trainers. During the winter months, we advise that your child wears long sports trousers or leggings. Please be aware that if your child does not come in their PE kit, then they may miss out on their session or you will be asked to return your child home to get dressed. PE will start on week commencing Monday 7th September.

Please send spare underwear and a spare set of clothes in with your child in their book bags just in case they may have a toileting accident. This will minimise the risk in lending clothes from school. Please also remember to bring a coat to school even if the weather looks fine in the morning as this can change throughout the day as we like to use the outdoor area as much as possible.

Topic homework will be given at the start of every main topic.. This will be a creative project which will hopefully encourage you and your child to work together to create an individual piece of work, which they will be able to talk about in class. The details of this homework, will be available to view on your child's class page on the website.

Maths and Phonics homework- will be in the form of a Pre-Teach videos which we will post on the website the week prior to the children learning the work. This is exactly like we were doing prior to school closure and is an effective way to introduce the children to the new learning whilst involving you in your child's learning.

It has proved effective in how quickly and confidently the children pick up the work in the week and impacts on their progress too.

There will be a pre-teach homework video for Maths and Phonics every week posted on Friday, ready for you to watch over the weekend, ready for the next week's learning.

Reading- We encourage you to read with your child a little every day. Their books will be changed on Tuesdays and Fridays to allow any germs on the books to dissipate before lending them to other children. Even though the books are changed twice a week, please bring their book and reading record to school every day in their book bags.

High Frequency Words- five of these will be given to your child every week and will be assessed every Monday. Please practise these with your child to help them to read. They will only be changed if your child can read them on sight.

Don’t forget to check our school website for information on upcoming events and activities, useful websites to support their learning and photos and information on what fun and exciting things the children have been up to whilst learning. Our website address is

We are also on Facebook and Twitter so watch out for latest news and exciting things happening on those social media websites.

As a school, we operate an open-door policy. However, to adhere to social distancing measures, if you need to contact me for any reason, please feel free to make an appointment or by the contact form on the Reception C class page on the website.

I look forward to a very enjoyable year working with you and your child.

Yours sincerely
