Welcome to Reception B!
I hope you have had a fun-filled summer and are now ready for some more fun in Reception class!
We have lots of really exciting topics this year and start off with RAINBOW WORLD asking the question “What’s at the end of your rainbow?”
This will entail learning about how special and unique we are whilst still being part of a school family. We will also learn about who and what is special to us. There will also be a mini-topic on Winter Wonderland. These topics will take us right through till Christmas.
Along with myself we are lucky to have Mrs Villiers and Mrs Curtis to support Reception class.
In Reception B, we will be having PE on Tuesdays and Fridays, so please make sure your child has their PE kits in school, including trainers.
Please remember to NAME ALL CLOTHING AND FOOTWEAR which you send in with your child to avoid confusion.
Topic homework will be given at the start of every main topic, the first of which you have already had. This will be a creative project which will hopefully encourage you and your child to work together to create an individual piece of work, which they will be able to talk about in class.
Homework for phonics will start after October half term once all our initial assessments have been done. In the meantime, could you please continue to share books with your child and practise writing their name.
Maths homework will take the form of playing games at home with your child to reinforce number recognition, 1:1 counting and adding on. You could also practise measures whilst cooking/ baking and talk about shapes in the environment. There is a booklet link at the bottom of the Reception Class Page on our website (website address is below).
Your child will also be receiving their reading book in a few weeks. We encourage you to read with your child a little every day. Their books will only be changed on Mondays and Fridays but please bring their book and reading record to school every day in their book bags.
Don’t forget to check our school website for information on upcoming events and activities, useful websites to support their learning and photos and information on what fun and exciting things the children have been up to whilst learning. Our website address is www.spilsbyprimary.org.uk.
We are also on Facebook and Twitter so watch out for latest news and exciting things happening on those social media websites.
If you need to contact me for any reason, please feel free to talk to me in the mornings or afternoon at the gate or by the contact form on the Reception Class Page on the school website.
I look forward to a very enjoyable year working with you and your child.
