Welcome to Reception Class!
I hope you have had a fun-filled Easter break and are now ready for some more fun in Reception class!
This term we are learning about life 'UNDER THE SEA' and continuing our mission to look after the environment and sea creatures.
Along with myself we are lucky to have Mrs Villiers and Miss Smith to support Reception class all day along. On a Thursday and Friday, Mrs Salmon joins us in Reception too.
This year we are also lucky to have a trainee teacher, Miss Carter, joining us too.
So we have lots of grown-ups to help and look after us whilst we are having fun learning.
In Reception, we will be having PE on Wednesdays and Fridays, so please make sure your child has their PE kits in school, including trainers. It is best to send your child in with their PE kit on Monday morning and leave it here for the week. Then we will send it home with your child on Friday.
If you would like to send in a spare pair of pants and socks, we can keep these at school this year just in case your child has an accident.
Please remember to NAME ALL CLOTHING AND FOOTWEAR which you send in with your child to avoid confusion.
Topic homework will be given at the start of every main topic, the first of which you have already had. This will be a creative project which will hopefully encourage you and your child to work together to create an individual piece of work, which they will be able to talk about in class.
Maths homework will take the form of playing games at home with your child to reinforce number recognition, 1:1 counting and adding on. You could also practise measures whilst cooking/ baking and talk about shapes in the environment. There is a booklet link at the bottom of the Reception Class Page on our website (website address is below).
Sometimes, extra Maths homework will be given on a Friday when I feel it is beneficial and can be handed in to mark the following week.
Please keep reading with your child a little every day. Their books will only be changed on Mondays and Fridays but please bring their book and reading record to school every day in their book bags.
High Frequency Words will continue to be given out on Wednesdays to hand in and assess the following Wednesday. Please practise these with your child to help them in their reading fluency.
Don’t forget to look us up on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to see what brilliant things we are learning about and experiencing in school.
If you need to contact me for any reason, please feel free to talk to me in the mornings or afternoon at the gate or by the contact form on the bottom of this page.
I look forward to a very enjoyable year working with you and your child.
