I hope you have had a fun-filled summer and are now ready for some more fun in Reception C class!
We have lots of really exciting topics this year and start off with WONDERFUL ME asking the question “Why do you love me so much?”
This will entail learning about how special and unique we are whilst still being part of a school family. We will also learn about who and what is special to us. There will also be a mini-topic on Winter Wonderland. These topics will take us right through until Christmas.
Reception C Class Staff
Along with myself we are lucky to have Miss Smith and Mrs Loake to support Reception C class.
In Reception C, we will be having PE on Mondays and Thursdays. To try to limit the number of belongings being brought into school, we are asking that your child comes to school in their PE kit on these days, including wearing their trainers. During the winter months, we advise that your child wears long sports trousers or leggings. Please be aware that if your child does not come in their PE kit, then they may miss out on their session or you will be asked to return your child home to get dressed. PE will start on week commencing Monday 7th September.
Please send spare underwear and a spare set of clothes in with your child in their book bags just in case they may have a toileting accident. This will minimise the risk in lending clothes from school. Please also remember to bring a coat to school even if the weather looks fine in the morning as this can change throughout the day as we like to use the outdoor area as much as possible.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO LABEL ALL CLOTHING, FOOTWEAR, LUNCHBOXES AND DRINKS BOTTLES.
Topic homework will be given at the start of every main topic, the first of which you have already had. This will be a creative project which will hopefully encourage you and your child to work together to create an individual piece of work, which they will be able to talk about in class.
Homework for phonics will start after October half term once all our initial assessments have been done. In the meantime, could you please continue to share books with your child and practise writing their name.
Maths homework will take the form of playing games at home with your child to reinforce number recognition, 1:1 counting and adding on. You could also practise measures whilst cooking/ baking and talk about shapes in the environment. There is a booklet link at the bottom of the Reception Class Page on our website (website address is below).
Your child will also be receiving their reading book in a few weeks. We encourage you to read with your child a little every day. Their books will only be changed on Tuesdays and Fridays but please bring their book and reading record to school every day in their book bags.
PLEASE ENSURE BOOK BAGS ARE LABELLED.
Don’t forget to check our school website for information on upcoming events and activities, useful websites to support their learning and photos and information on what fun and exciting things the children have been up to whilst learning. Our website address is www.spilsbyprimary.org.uk.
We are also on Facebook and Twitter so watch out for latest news and exciting things happening on those social media websites.
As a school, we operate an open-door policy. However, to adhere to social distancing measures, if you need to contact me for any reason, please feel free to make an appointment or by the contact form on the Reception C class page on the website.
I look forward to a very enjoyable year working with you and your child.
