Reception B

Welcome to Reception B Class!

I hope you have managed to enjoy your summer and are ready to for some fun learning in Reception B class.

We have lots of really exciting topics this year and start off with WHY DO YOU LOVE ME SO MUCH? This will entail learning about ourselves, special people, homes and locality. We will also learn about who and what is special to us. There will also be a mini-topic on Winter Wonderland. These topics will take us right through till Christmas.

Reception B Class Staff

Along with myself we are lucky to have Mrs Villiers and Mrs Loake to support Reception B class.

PE

In Reception B, we will be having PE on Tuesdays and Fridays. To ensure as few belongings are brought into school as necessary and to maintain hygiene protocols, on these PE days please can the children come to school in their PE kits and remain in them. Please be aware that if your child does not come in their PE kit, then they may miss out on the session or you will be asked to return home to get changed.

Change of clothes

To begin with, for the first few weeks, please send spare underwear and a spare set of clothes in with your child in their book bags just in case they may have a toileting accident. This will minimise the risk in lending clothes from the school.

Please remember to NAME ALL CLOTHING AND FOOTWEAR which you send in with your child to avoid confusion.

Homework

Topic homework will be given at the start of every main topic, the first of which you have already had. This will be a creative project which will hopefully encourage you and your child to work together to create an individual piece of work, which they will be able to talk about in class.

Homework for phonics will start after October half term once all our initial assessments have been done. In the meantime, could you please continue to share books with your child and practise writing their name.

Maths homework will take the form of playing games at home with your child to reinforce number recognition, 1:1 counting and adding on. You could also practise measures whilst cooking/ baking and talk about shapes in the environment. There is a booklet link at the bottom of the Reception Class Page on our website (website address is below).

Your child will also be receiving their reading book on Friday 11th September. We encourage you to read with your child a little every day. Their books will only be changed on Tuesdays and Fridays to allow any germs on the books to dissipate before lending them to other children. Even though the books are changed twice a week, please bring their book and reading record to school every day in their book bags.

Website

Don’t forget to check our school website for information on upcoming events and activities, useful websites to support their learning and photos and information on what fun and exciting things the children have been up to whilst learning. Our website address is www.spilsbyprimary.org.uk.

We are also on Facebook and Twitter so watch out for latest news and exciting things happening on those social media websites.

If you need to contact me for any reason, please feel free make an appointment with me for a meeting. We are still operating an open door policy but with social distancing measures in place, a separate meeting would provide more confidentiality and be safer for all concerned. Alternatively, you can get in touch with me by using the contact form below.

I look forward to a very enjoyable year working with you and your child.

Yours sincerely
