Year 3 have been working hard this term with Mrs Jeffery to create this call and response rap from Macbeth! They used their voices and added instruments to help bring the rap to life!

This afternoon, Year 3 worked collaboratively to create their own Potion Labs. They used junk modelling and craft resources to create their end product and some children even began to add labels to their designs to highlight all of the internal features.

Today, Year 3 looked at the scientific processes involved when making bath bombs. They had to combine different ingredients together to create the end product, whilst also considering the different states of matter they could see.

Today, Year 3 looked at the effect different conditions will have on bones. There were bones which had: been in vinegar for one week; vinegar for 24 hours; water for one week; water for 24 hours; a dark cupboard for one week and finally on a windowsill for one week. They noticed some of the bones had become 'bendy' after they had been in vinegar.
14/03/2019 - Well Being 'Grief and Loss' Workshop
This morning, Year 3 were lucky to have another well being workshop all about 'Grief and Loss'. They talked about what situation in life could cause different emotions because of their grief and loss. They created memory bracelets and 'I remember...' poems to display their work.

To help with their understanding of reversible changes, some of year 3 looked at how chocolate could be melted by increasing the temperature and then could be solidified again when put in the fridge.

This afternoon, Year 3 continued with their potions project and looked at different medicines and remedies that have been used through time. They then created little medicine journals to show the countries they were founded in as well as the ingredients used and the method needed to create the medicine.

This morning, Year 3 continued to work through their potions project and explored how potions were used in different stories. Today, they specifically looked at the Shakespeare tragedy play of Romeo and Juliet. They listened to the story and then had to piece together their own storyboard of the tragic love story.

Year 3 created letters this week as if they were doctors who had just seen an operation with anaesthetic used and they used the IPads to publish these.

This afternoon, Year 3 continued their research into the three states of matter. They looked at solids, liquids and gases in different circumstances and began to think about terms such as: condensation, freezing, melting and boiling to understand how some materials can be grouped into more than one state of matter.

This afternoon, Year 3 created lanterns and origami flowers for a Vesak display to support their learning of Buddhism. They surrounded some candles and incense sticks with their creations, which helped to create a calm and thoughtful space in the classroom.

This morning, Year 3 continued with their journey through their Potions project and looked at the history of anaesthesia. They had to put events into chronological order and then create a timeline from this information.

This afternoon, Year 3 continued with their potions project and created their own posters to explain the difference in the states of matter, which are: solids; liquids and gases.

Today, Year 3 created labels for a potion bottle. They had to use imperative verbs in their instructions of how to take the potion or in the safety part. They also had to use symbols and powerful words to give as much information as possible about the potion.

This afternoon, Year 3 were looking at viscosity and tested six different liquids to see which was had the most viscosity and which one had the least.

This afternoon, Year 3 looked at states of matter and how all materials in the world can be grouped as either a solid, liquid or gas. They also spotted that some objects can be found in different states for example, coffee can be a solid when bought as granules but then is drunk as a liquid.
25/02/2019 - Potions Launch Event
This morning, Year 3 took part in four different activities to launch their Potions project. The activities were based around aspects of the Alice in Wonderland story, with the children completing an object trail, discussing what to do with a bottle saying 'drink me', drawing their own potion bottles and finally using their maths skills to find the code to an escape room!
