12/02/2020 - Memorable Experience to The Collection 

 

Year 3 had the best day on their trip to The Collection in Lincoln! They took part in an archaeological dig, a Greek play, made hoplite shields and studied the lives of Greek children!

Year 3 have been working really hard over the last two weeks to create a character profile to become a new God or Goddess in Olympus. They will be presenting these to the almighty Zeus later in the week!

Year 3 used the green screen to create a profile picture of them in front of Mount Olympus to add to their God and Goddess profiles! They had to strike a pose worthy of Zeus, King of the Gods! 

06/02/2020 - RE

 

This afternoon, Year 3 looked at the importance of prayer in the Christian religion. They either created their own prayer or made a poster explaining what prayer is and why it is important to people in the Christian faith and other religions.

06/02/2020 - Art, Design and Technology

 

Year 3 have worked over the last two days on creating a Laurel Wreath and a weapon fit for a God or Goddess! They had to use their art and design knowledge to create items that would make them worthy to enter Mount Olympus alongside Zeus!

Today, Year 3 published their Theseus and the Minotaur inspired myths after a week of writing, editing and improving their work!

Year 3 have been working really hard on their myths this week, inspired by the legendary myth of Theseus and the Minotaur! Today, they worked in pairs to self and peer mark their work, which included: finding, correcting and adding different writing features to their work. It was great to see how much they could learn from each other!

29/01/2020 - Computing with Mr Carlton

 

Year 3 were very lucky this morning to have a lesson with Mr Carlton. They had the opportunity to use the Google Slides app on the IPads and create a presentation on a topic of their choice, insert pictures and begin to think about animations.

28/01/2020 - Design and Technology

 

Year 3 had a fantastic afternoon today, using ModRoc to create the head of a Minotaur. They had to work in groups to complete the task and they are looking forward to finishing the sculptures!

27/01/2020 - PSHE

 

This afternoon, Year 3 looked at road safety and learnt about the different rules they should follow when crossing roads in different positions. Then, they looked at some examples of road crossings and had to decide whether it would be safe to cross or not.

21/01/2020 - History

 

This afternoon, Year 3 combined with Year 4 to work collaboratively in History. Together, they studied the Battle of Marathon and sequenced the story into the correct order before writing a recount from the viewpoint of either an Athenian or Persian soldier. They then also discussed how the significance of the Battle has influenced the marathon road races that occur today.

This morning, Year 3 looked at the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur and after hearing a version of the story, they had to sequence another version into the correct order.

Year 3 have had a fantastic week studying the Greek myth of Icarus and Daedalus. After reading the myth and exploring the story, they created a diary entry from the viewpoint of either Icarus or Daedalus.

15/01/2020 - Design and Technology

 

A fantastic afternoon in Year 3! They have been looking at the myth of Icarus' wings in English, so this afternoon they created their own set in groups.

14/01/2020 - History

 

This afternoon, Year 3 spent some time researching the Ancient Greek civilisation and studying different aspects of their lives. Next, they spent some time reading about some famous Greek people such as: Aristotle, Pythagoras and Alexander the Great.

08/01/2020 - History

 

This afternoon, Year 3 looked at the Ancient Greek civilisation and created timelines, which highlighted some of the key events from the time period!

07/01/2020 - Art and Design

 

After looking at the Greek Gods and Goddesses, Year 3 sketched their own drawing of a deity before beginning to use modroc and other resources to create a 3D sculpture. The children will work together the rest of this week to finish the sculptures.

07/01/2020 - Geography

 

This afternoon, Year 3 looked at maps of Ancient Greece. They created their own scaled version of the map, plotting major cities and mountains as well as the surrounding seas.

06/01/2020 - PSHE

 

This afternoon, Year 3 looked at the importance of personal hygiene and the simple things they could do to avoid spreading harmful germs from coughing and sneezing etc. They then also looked at how they should keep areas of their body clean through washing properly.
