Welcome to our class page

Welcome to the class page for 6D.

Here you will find information on the children's learning, photos celebrating this learning and other project related activities that they participate in.

The fourth of our exciting projects is entitled 'Off with her Head!'. This history based project takes a step back in time to the Tudor period. The children will look at the Tudor timeline, the wives of Henry VIII and his break from the Roman Catholic Church as well as look at music and dancing related to the period. The children will also start the project with an exciting trip to watch a live performance of 'Horrible Histories' on Wednesday March 6th.

Links at the bottom of the page will take you to their projects and these will be regularly updated.

The children's SATs test are fast approaching and we are encouraging children to start revising any maths methods they feel insecure with- their red CGP booklet will help with this. To also practise SPAG work and revisit pages complete in their CGP booklets

The class will have the fourth of their project related homework to complete over the half term (details can be found by clicking on the project page link at the bottom).

The children will also be expected to complete maths and English homework weekly, which is linked to their current learning. It is important that this homework be completed independently so that any misconceptions can be addressed when the homework is reviewed and additional support given to help their class work. Please however discuss your child's homework with them because this helps to embed learning and understanding further. This will come in the form of 2 CGP booklets, which the children will write in, and an accompanying maths resource book. In addition the children will have weekly spelling patterns and words to learn. They will practise these daily in class before being tested each week.

The children will have 2 P.E. sessions each week. One will be with myself and the second with JB Sports. It is vitally important that the children participate fully in these sessions and have a full P.E. kit in school from Monday to Friday, incase of swapped sessions to allow for memorable experiences or WOW events. 6D will have  a few more swimming sessions  on Tuesday afternoons then they will revert back to P.E. within the weekly timetable.

Finally, if you would like to contact me for any reason or have ideas that will help the children's learning please send a message via the email link below, leave a message at the office or catch me at the end of the school day.

Thank you for your support
