A Warm Welcome to the Year 6 page
Welcome to our class page.
Welcome to the fourth of our exciting projects for this academic year,
Welcome to the body. In this project the children will explore the heart and the circulatory system; understanding how the veins, arteries and chambers work hard to move blood around the body.
They will investigate the different blood groups as well as look at how cardiovascular exercise and a healthy diet can keep the heart healthy. The children will also take a closer look at the damaging effects of smoking on the heart and the lungs. The project will also include a practical session, where the children will dissect an animal heart, to examine the veins, arteries and chambers in closer detail.
The project will also be centred on raising funds for the British Heart Foundation through an inter-key stage Dodgeball competition.
P.E. sessions will continue to be twice a week on Monday afternoon and a Tuesday morning.
Homework will continue weekly with the CGP booklets covering Maths and Spellings, Punctuation and Grammar activities. These will be marked every Wednesday. Please encourage your child to be responsible for their own belongings and support them to work as independently as they can on these activities. The CGP red math booklet covers teaching skills to aid the homework activities. The SPaG activities are related to activities in class and the working wall offers guidance to help the children complete these tasks.
If you feel you have any experiences to contribute to this project please fell free to contact myself through the class website email link or catch me at the end of the school day.
Thank you for your continued support
