A Warm Welcome to the Year 6 page
Welcome to our class page.
Dear parents and carers,
It is hard to believe that we are going into the fifth term of the school year and the summer term.
This term’s project is entitled Peasants, Princes and Pestilence and focuses on the dreaded and deathly ‘Great Pestilence’ that swept across 14th Century Britain.
We will take a closer look at how the ‘Black Death’ came to Britain and how it spread so rapidly. Investigations will take place to understand the effects of bacteria on the human body and we will find out about dangerous plague ‘cures’. Geoffrey Chaucer will inspire our poetry and our plague diaries will record the horrors we see unfold. We will learn about the different social classes and understand the reasons behind the peasant revolt as well as learn what it was like to be a knight.
P.E. sessions will continue to be twice a week on Monday afternoon and a Tuesday morning.
Homework will continue weekly with the CGP booklets covering Maths and Spellings, Punctuation and Grammar activities. These will be marked every Wednesday. Please encourage your child to be responsible for their own belongings and support them to work as independently as they can on these activities. The CGP red math booklet covers teaching skills to aid the homework activities. The SPaG activities are related to activities in class and the working wall offers guidance to help the children complete these tasks.
If you feel you have any experiences to contribute to this project please fell free to contact myself through the class website email link or catch me at the end of the school day.
Thank you for your continued support
