Year 6

In spite of the rain, a fun first day at PGL. Some very competitive driving on the quad-bike track was followed by arial acrobatics in aero-ball (volleyball on trampolines). After a tasty tea, the activities continued with a game of Capture the Flag. Hopefully enough energy has been used up to ensure a good night's sleep!

Day 2 - An early start but delicious cooked breakfast this morning. Rain still pouring down but spirits are high. Speaking of high - this morning's first challenge was 'Trapeze". Basically climb up a telegraph pole then jump off the top! Next it was time for some mental challenges with a series of problem solving activities.

Welcome to Year 6

Welcome to Year 6 1
Mrs Allen and Miss Andrews would like to welcome you to the Autumn term, where our first topic is Stargazers. Children will have the opportunity to embark on a journey through space. The classroom is already looking fantastic thanks to the excellent homework completed over the Summer - children were asked to create an image of a new planet that they had discovered, and some have really let their imaginations run free.

As the most senior pupils in school, all Year 6 children have taken on extra responsibilities around the school, from distributing milk and fruit to being playtime buddies to infant children amongst other duties. All of the children have taken on these tasks with a mature and sensible approach. During this final year of primary school, Miss Andrews and myself will be continuing to foster a spirit of personal responsibility to ease the transition to secondary school next year. It is so important that Year 6 children start to take responsibility in areas such as completing homework, taking care of personal appearance and remembering to bring P.E. kits.

11+ Testing

For some children, part of the transition to secondary school will involve sitting their 11+ test and these tests will be administered as follows:

Friday 11th September - Verbal Reasoning

Friday 18th September - Non Verbal Reasoning.

Should you have any questions regarding these, please do not hesitate to contact me.

P.E.

Year 6 P.E. takes place on a Monday, and children should ensure their kits are in school on that day.

Should you have any questions or concerns relating to your child, please contact me using the contact form below.
