A huge welcome to Year 6. This will be a really important time for our children as they complete their final year of Primary School and get ready to head off to Secondary School. Helping them along this journey will be Class Teachers, Mrs Allen and Mr Clarke ably supported by Miss Andrews and Mrs Loake.
During the morning sessions, the class will be split into two groups for English and maths, which will allow us to really focus on the needs of the individual children. In the afternoon, the class will come together for the remainder of their lessons.
We will be starting this year by investigating the topic of Frozen Kingdoms, which will take us on an exciting voyage with the Titanic, an exploration of the creatures that inhabit the Arctic and Antarctic and end with the adventures of Captain Scott and his team of intrepid explorers! Full details of the topic can be found by clicking on the Frozen Kingdom link below.
Home Learning - during Year 6, the children will be encouraged to become more independent with their home learning. To support this they will each be provided with a set of study books and corresponding workbooks for maths and English. Each week, they will record in their workbooks the page numbers that need to be completed and the work will be followed up in class. It is crucial that children read their study guides before completing the relevant workbook activity.
P.E. will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday and kits should be in school on these days. This term we will be participating in football with our specialist sports coach, and also taking part in orienteering activities.
The Year 6 team is always happy to receive feedback from parents/carers, which can be submitted using the enquiry form.
The year 6 children had a super day dressing up as their favourite Superheroes for Children in Need Day.
