Welcome back after the summer, I hope you are looking forward to sharing the Year 2 learning journey with us. As mentioned before the summer, we will start with the project Enchanted garden for the Autumn term.
As the children are now in Year 2, there will be an emphasis on spellings meaning they will start having a weekly spelling test. Spellings will be given out on a Monday, to be tested the following Monday. These will be stuck into your child’s homework book on a Monday and should be completed and returned to school on a Monday morning. Your support in this would be greatly appreciated to enable the children to make the most of their learning which is happening within school. Reading at home will continue to benefit the children and should be recorded in their reading record to allow the teaching staff to see that this is happening. The reading challenge will also continue this year. Please help your child to take care of their books, reading records and homework books as this is school property and should be treat with respect. Homework, spellings and reading at home will be closely monitored and the children will be reminded of its importance on their learning, if this is approached from all angles, you will really notice a difference in your child’s progress.
Your child will have 2 PE lessons a week, one with JB sports and then a yoga lesson to support their mental well-being. PE kit should be clearly named and should stay in school all week in case the timetable changes.
