Creating an alternative verse
The children looked at the features of the nursery rhyme 'When good King Arthur ruled this land'.
They picked apart the the nursery rhyme and recognised the rhyming pattern, the syllables in each line, the theme of the rhyme, alliteration and adjectives used. They then worked in small groups to recreate alternative lines for the rhyme. Following that they worked in 2 groups and sorted their best ideas to create their own alternative verse.
