We had a choice of sweet treats today, and imaginary money to spend.
Year 2 were told that an apple costs 10p, a strawberry costs 5p and a banana costs 15p. If they had exactly £1 to spend, then what were the combiations of fruit that they could buy?
Straightaway Harvey said, " I can buy 10 apples because 10 x 10 = 100 and there are 100p in £1"
Several children then worked out that, as there are two 5 p coins for every ten pence coin, you could buy 20 strawberries for your £1.
There were lots of other fabulous flavour combinations that totalled £1.
