Spilsby in the Community

Community outreach at its finest! Davis Bruce spent the afternoon talking to our pupils about his role as a Youth Pastor at the Spilsby New Life Centre. Lots of thought-provoking questions were asked including: "As a leader, do you use the Spilsby 7 at the New Life?" Consequently, the whole class was given the challenge of creating a set of values for the community centre! Look out for the 'New Life 9'

After receiving a lovely letter from the Spilsby & Hundleby Walkers, the school councilors and JPCSO's decided to write a letter of thanks in response.

The JPCSOs have been chatting to businesses this lunchtime to explain how the Lincolnshire Alert system can help

The Fire Crew, Police, Ambulance Service, Crime Investigators and Lives First Responders came into school for our 999 Day. We have had such an amazing time learning about what to do in an emergency and the meaning of ICE (In Case of Emergency). We learned all about the different vehicles, with all the extra fun parts like the sirens and hoses, rules and responsibilities in the Police Force, fingerprints and DNA, how to save lives using CPR and dressing up in the different uniforms. It has been such a fabulous opportunity and the children have got up close to the people in the community who are there to help us. A huge thank you to Mel Standbrook for organsing the day and to all the emergency service staff who have made this day such a memorable experience for the children.

Always a pleasure to read lovely comments about our children form the community. Well done Year 1!

A lovely email commending our Year 3 and 4 pupils after their visit to the church.

Dear Mr Clarke,

I am the organist of St James Church, Spilsby and talked about the electric and pipe organs to some of the children of your school this morning.

As a retired Head Teacher myself I would like to say how well behaved and polite the children were. Each group thanked me and didn’t make a fuss when many were unable to have the opportunity to sit on the organ stool. It was a pleasure to be with them. They were a credit to their teachers and the school.

I hope you will pass on my thanks for an enjoyable morning.Thank you.

Yours sincerely

Margaret Cook

To all at Spilsby Primary School,

I would just like to congratulate you on all of your amazing Christmas performances. I came to all four shows and I never once left disappointed. Firstly, I would like to give a special well done to all those who sang solos as they all sounded super. I think that a special mention needs to go to Louie Warner and Abigail Playfoot who both blew me away with their talents. Mrs Allen, you clearly have some potential stars in your class! Lastly, well done to all the staff that put the performances together, they were superb!

Miss Dawson

Following the visit from the Spilsby branch of the Royal British Legion, we were delighted to receive the following letters commending the children on their exemplary work and behaviour. We are extremely proud of the children and it is tremendous when honourable members of our community get to see this too.
