Welcome back to the Spring term!
As we have now been here for a while, could I please ask you all to leave your child at the gate now as they are very independent at getting themselves organised.
Our topic for these nest two terms is MYTHICAL LANDS. We will be learning about fairy tales, castles, dragons, Chinese New Year and much more! These are all based on the children's ideas when they were asked last term. We will be going on a trip to Tattershall Castle, having a Chinese New Year Feast at Gipsey Bridge Academy and also have a real life dragon in school with Pets at Home!
We are lucky to have Miss Bamforth and Miss Cobb with us all day and also Mrs Villiers, and Mrs Loake to help as well. So we have lots of grown-ups to support us whilst we are having fun learning.
In Reception, we will be having PE on Mondays and Wednesdays so please make sure you have your PE kits in school, including trainers. Please remember to name all clothing and footwear which you bring in.
Homework for phonics will be given on Friday for your child to practise at home, this does NOT need to be handed in.
Your child will continue to get their High Frequency Words every week for them to learn at home and these will be assessed every week on a Wednesday as usual.
Maths homework will take the form of playing games at home with your child to reinforce number recognition, 1:1 counting and adding on. You could also practise measures whilst cooking/ baking and talk about shapes in the environment.
Your child will also have a project linked to our topic. This is a creative project which will hopefully encourage you and your child to work together to create an individual piece of work, which they will be able to talk about in class.
Please continue to read with your child at home. We encourage you to read with your child a little every day and bring their book and reading record to school every day in their book bags. Books usually get changed on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
If you need to contact me for any reason, please use the email form below or see me in the mornings or afternoon at the gate.
