Welcome back to Reception Class!

Picture 1

Welcome back! I hope you had a restful break.

First of all can I say a super well done to all of you for the SUPERHERO LUNCHBOXES that were created and discussed as part of the home learning project. The children were really enthused by them and talked about the reasons why they had included the foods in their lunch boxes. They were all brilliant and individual and showed great creativity!

Our next topic is COMMOTION IN THE OCEAN, during which will be learning about life under the sea. We will be visiting The Deep later this term, a letter will follow, but we are busy transforming our class into an underwater land at the moment, using all our own ideas and resources to help us to do this.

We are lucky to have Miss Bamforth with us all day and Miss Cobb in the mornings and Miss Franklin in the afternoons. So we have lots of grown-ups to support us whilst we are having fun learning. If you do have a particular talent or passion like sewing, baking, storytelling or anything else, or would just like to help us for an hour of so during the day on a regular basis, please come and see one of the adults in class as it would be so beneficial to your child.

In Reception, we will be having PE on Mondays and Tuesdays so please make sure you have your PE kits in school, including trainers. A pair of wellies would be a good idea to be kept in school so that your child can access the outdoor classroom fully.

Please remember that it is essential to NAME all clothing and footwear which you provide.

If your child does bring home something which isn’t theirs, by mistake, if you could hand it in to us.

Reading books are changed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays but please make sure your child brings it in everyday so that we can read with them durinf their allocated time or day. Homework for phonics will be given out on Fridays, if needed, for you to keep and practice with your child as we work our way through the sounds. High Frequency Words will be assessed and changed, on Tuesdays. Maths homework will take the form of playing games at home with your child to reinforce number recognition, 1:1 counting and adding on. You could also practise measures whilst cooking/ baking and talk about shapes in the environment.

Your child will have another project linked to our topic, details of which can be found by clicking on the “Homework Project” link under the current topic on the following page.

This term, it will be a 6 week creative project which has two parts to it, a creative piece and a written one. This will hopefully encourage you and your child to work together to create an individual piece of work, which they will be able to talk about in class. We will be having an open afternoon during the last week of term for us to display and celebrate all their hardwork.

If you need to contact me for any reason, please use the email form below or see me in the mornings or afternoon at the gate.
