Last week, you'll remember, we made some truly fabulous bridges and towers using construction kits. This week we took it one step further, as Year 2 love a challenge!
The children were asked to build a bridge that could span a gap between 2 chairs. They could use `Everyday Materials' ( paper, masking tape and string). They studied photos of real-life bridges, drew up a plan and then started constucting. At the end we tested the bridges to see how much weight they could hold. Oliver, Finlay and Harvey did some fabulous mental addition work keeping track of each total as it increased.
The strongest bridge was built by Roxanne, Abby, Oscar and Lucy. It held an impressive 6k.g.
