Children should choose 2 big numbers, 4 small numbers and a target number. They should then use some or all of the numbers to get as close to the target number as they can using adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.
Start with finding out all the combinations if they only had two colours e.g. a red suit and a blue suit. Then try 3 colours e.g. a red suit, a blue suit and a green suit. Can you spot a pattern? Then try all four colours.
How will you record your results? Remember you need to work systematically to get all the possibilities.
